2011 Winners!!
At the Wangaratta Jazz festival, the finalists performed with internationally renowned saxophonist Dale Barlow, pianist Matt McMahon (who won the National Jazz Awards in 1999) and bassist Ben Waples (who was second-placed in the 2008 Awards).
The Winners are:
- Tim Firth, 29, Sydney
- Ben Falle, 25, Perth (second)
- David Goodman, 34, Sydney (third)
The finalists are:
•· Sam Bates, 33, from Melbourne
•· Hugh Harvey, 30, from Melbourne
•· Graham Hunt, 27, from Sydney
•· Evan Mannell, 32, from Sydney
•· Cameron Reid, 34, from Sydney
•· Craig Simon, 34, from Melbourne
•· James Waples, 28, from Sydney
(Ages shown are as at the 1st November 2011).
The ten finalists will perform in the first round, with three then selected to play in the final round, which will be broadcast live-to-air on 'Jazztrack with Mal Stanley', on ABC Classic FM, from 5.00-7.00pm on Sunday 30 October.
•· The winner will receive $8,000; plus studio recording session for studio recording session
for 'Jazztrack with Mal Stanley' on ABC Classic FM ; and an invitation to perform in the
Stonnington Jazz festival in May 2012
•· The runner-up will receive $5,000.
•· The third finalist will receive a prize of $2,000.
